Stroke Work Group. Venezuelan Neurological Society


The Stroke Work Group of the Venezuelan Society of Neurology is sponsoring and coordinating the activities planned by local Neurologists in eleven of the biggest cities in the country: Caracas, Maracaibo, Coro, Barquisimeto, Valencia, Mérida, Maracay, Valera, Puerto La Cruz, Puerto Ordaz y Guanare. The organizers will appear in local and national television, radio and newspapers throughout the previous days to announce the activities and expand the knowledge about the prevention, the symptoms, the risks and the consequences of stroke. Activities will start on Friday October 25 with conferences in Maracay and Mérida. On Saturday 26 there will be awareness activities on public parks and streets in Valera and Puerto La Cruz On Sunday, 27 October, there will be a conference for patients and their families in Guanare, and a public activity all day in Caracas’ main park. From Monday 28 to Saturday November 2, in Barquisimeto and Cabudare, there will be activities to inform the public and consultations in over 5 hospitals. On Tuesday October 29 in one of the busiest malls in Caracas there will be an awareness activity throughout the day. The same will happen in Coro. In Maracaibo there will be free consultation and information sessions on Thursday October 31 and Friday November 1. On Saturday there will be an open activity at a public park in Valencia, with information and consultations for the general public. Finally, on Sunday November 3 there will be awareness activities in another mall in Caracas, and in Maracaibo and Puerto Ordaz there will be walks and dance activities to inform the general public about stroke.
