SCOTLAND - Scottish Stroke Research Network


A joint event for public, patients, carers and researchers has now been organised to mark World Stroke Day on the 29 October 2009 and will be held in The Renfield Centre, 260 Bath Street, Glasgow.
It is hoped that the day will attract up to sixty participants, forty patients/carers/public and twenty researchers.

This event involves the Scottish Stroke Research Network, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, The Stroke Association, James Lind Alliance and the Database of Research in Stroke (DORIS) project leads.

UK – North West Stroke Research Network


An event primarily aimed at the public, stroke survivors and carers to be held at Lancashire County Cricket club with 75 participants.

There will be talks by Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell of Manchester University and Damian Jenkinson from the Stroke Improvement Programme as well as other leading researchers outlining how research benefits patient care.

The event is being supported by The Stroke Association with stands from local charities, clinical networks and research networks.
