WORLD STROKE CAMPAIGN AGAINST STROKE PERU- 2013 The World Day against stroke is celebrated on October 29th each year organized by the World Stroke Organization, and in Peru It has been celebrated for seven years by Grupo Stroke del Peru, which is a nonprofit civil association integrated by specialists from different medical areas dedicated to the prevention, training, research and care of stroke. On this occasion, Grupo Stroke del Peru, in co-organization with Rotary Club and the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Neurologicas, will organize in Peru a Campaign against stroke in Lima and other provinces of Peru, on October 29th and November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2013, with the following messages: Stroke can be prevented by modifying risk factors and improving lifestyles. If the patient with symptoms of stroke comes earlier to the hospital (within 4.5 hours of onset of symptoms), will have greater chance of recovering with current treatment. With this purpose, we will do the following activities: FIRST DAY: Spread the activities in the media (Tuesday, October 29th , world stroke day, 11:00 am ) In Kennedy Park in Miraflores, Lima, we will show activities of stroke prevention to the media and to the community. There will be 5 tents for: Stand 1: Measure blood pressure Stand 2 : Videos interviewing celebrities or their relatives that suffered from stroke Stand 3 : Distribution of brochures Stand 4 : Preparing healthy food Stand 5 : Coordination and logistics showing messages on prevention Placement of banners against stroke Invitation to the community to all the activities by mimes and hostess of the week against stroke SECOND DAY: Parade (Friday, November 1st , 9:00 am) The initial concentration will be at the intersection of Javier Prado Oeste Avenue with Salaverry Avenue. Participation of: members of Grupo Stroke del Perú, Rotary Club, Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Neurologicas, hospitals, universities, institutes, and private companies that promote healthy lifestyles, with special designed campaign symbols and messages agains stroke and in favor of prevention in banners . The tour will come to Campo de Marte, where there will be a stage and develop a specific program, with words referring to the date and participation of guest artists. THIRD DAY : Medical Campaign Against Stroke (Saturday November 2nd , 8:00 am) Place: Parroquia Niño Jesus de Ciudad de Dios. Avenida Hernando de Lavalle 391, Ciudad de Dios, San Juan de Miraflores. An estimated of 500 people. There will be : Dosage of glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides Educational talks: prevention and treatment of stroke Specialized medical consultation Distribution of brochures FOURTH DAY: Participation in a soccer match in the stadium (Sunday, November 3rd, 3:30 pm) Team : Sporting Cristal vs Alianza Lima Location: Alianza Lima Stadium, La Victoria , Lima Before the game, when the players go to the field, they have put on the t-shirt with the campaign symbol. The committee will enter the field with symbol t-shirts, caps and banners.

Also, Grupo Stroke del Peru, celebrated the World Stroke Campaigne in its network in other provinces of Peru, such as Cusco, Piura and Trujillo, with the following messages: Stroke can be prevented by modifying risk factors and improving lifestyles. Participated of: members of Grupo Stroke del Perú, Rotary Club, Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Neurologicas, hospitals, universities, institutes, and private companies that promote healthy lifestyles, with special designed campaign symbols (T-shirts) and messages agains stroke and in favor of prevention in banners . The tour finished at Parque Castilla in the District of Lince, where there was a stage and developed a specific program, with words referring to the date and participation of guest artists. THIRD DAY : Medical Campaign Against Stroke (Saturday November 2nd , 8:00 am) Place: Parroquia Niño Jesus de Ciudad de Dios. Avenida Hernando de Lavalle 391, Ciudad de Dios, San Juan de Miraflores. A Grupo Stroke del Peru Committee entered the field with symbol t-shirts and banners aganinst stroke, while the official announcer said messages against stroke with an impact in the persons who attended the stadium and also a national TV transmition. Impact in the media and in the population: • Newspapers: 10 interviews in national coverage newspapers. • Radio: 10 interviews in national coverage radios. • Television: 20 interviews in national coverage TVs. • Internet: Information in 5 web pages of international coverage.
