This year’s Champaign the Mexican Association of Stroke, the Mexican Academy of Neurology with clinics and Hospitals from Mexico will have activities during World Stroke Day 2014 as “Recognizing Stroke Symptoms and Warning Signs” and “Knowing the String of Solidarity” campaign, emphasizing warning signs and risk factors of Stroke. In addition, a teleconference with doctors from Health Centers will be performed, allowing them to offer a better treat to those affected by a stroke. Another activity will be Press Conferences from different States from the Country about the treatment of Stroke in Mexico. We will record interviews with Stroke Survivors to share them in the social media and make consciousness about how is someone’s life after having a Stroke. Neurology Departments will organize Courses to educate those who are involved in the treatment and evolution of a Stroke patient. The neurological community will ask the Health authorities in Mexico through an official document, the inclusion of Stroke as a Catastrophic Disease with public health insurance to guarantee the best available treatment, including thrombolysis (Declaración de Mérida). This campaign will prepare millions of citizens and health professionals in order to have a better understanding and knowledge of Stroke.

This year’s Champaign the Department of Neurology from Hospital Universitario will have many activities to celebrate the World Stroke Day. These include a “Recognizing Stroke Symptoms and Warning Signs” and “Knowing the String of Solidarity” campaign, where the population will be taught about the main warning signs and risk factors of Stroke. In addition, a conference with the Health Centers from Nuevo León will be performed, with the topic “How to identify Stroke and offer a better treatment”. Another activity will be a Press Conference with the media about the treatment of Stroke in Mexico. As an activity involving Stroke Patients, the Neurology Department will record interviews with Stroke Survivors to share them in the social media and make consciousness about how is someone’s life after having a Stroke; also, a reunion with Stroke patients will be held in order to talk about rehabilitation and care of a Stroke survivor. To continue with the tradition, the Neurology Department will organize the “5th Course of Pre-hospitality and Nursing Cares of Stroke” to educate those who are involved in the treatment and evolution of a Stroke patient. To end these activities, the Neurology Department will elaborate a report of its Neurovascular Unit.
