Stroke rehabilitation encounters ups and downs, which is similar to flying kite. Both of them need help and encouragement from others in order to fly high. We encourage individuals and communities in Hong Kong to participate in a kite-flying activity, “Flyway in the Sky”, includes Kick-off Ceremony of “Orange Ribbons Campaign 2014”, Facebook event voting and award presentation ceremony, experiencing activities of stroke rehabilitation, game booths, free medical check electrocardiogram (ECG) examination, etc. Through the activity, we would like to make a Hong Kong record to promote the message of “facing challenges with smiles, flying high with courage”. The activity also responds to the World Stroke Day in 29th October.

Stroke is the No.4 killer in Hong Kong. Disability rate of stroke is very high that patients may suffer from different severities of language, cognitive, activity impairment. “LING HONG Exercise”(靈康操) is a tailor-made exercise for stroke rehabilitation. We provided “LING HONG Exercise”in elderly centres and old aged homes for stroke patients. In the workshops, stroke patients not only can learn the exercise to help them to strengthen their muscle for better recovery, but also can make friends with other stroke patients to build up a mutual support network in their rehabilitation process.
Stroke survivors encounter many ups and downs during their rehabilitation processes. The process of kite flying has the similarity of stroke rehabilitation. Therefore, we organized kite making workshop to serve as a promotion channel to assess more public and enterprises to share stroke knowledge and arouse their concerns on the rehabilitation processes of stroke survivors. Workshops have started from 30th September to 14th October 2014 to respond the World Stroke Day on 29th October.
