Cameroon - Walk Against Stroke

The Douala Neurological Club is an association created in June 2018, bringing together physicians of the central nervous system (neurologists, neuropediatricians, psychiatrists, neurosurgeons and internists) of the city of Douala and its surroundings. As part of the World Stroke Day 2018, the Douala Neurological Club has decided to organize for the first time several activities including a : Walk Against Stroke, two days of screening for stroke's risk factors (October 22th and 23th) in Douala's General and Laquintinie Hospitals and a scientific meeting (October 26th to 27th) at the Akwa conference hall. The Walk Against Stroke was held at the Parcours vita of Douala, on October 20th, 2018 from 6 to 10 am. The aim of this walk was to raise awareness about the risk factors of stroke. 1000 people took part in this walk which crossed the streets of the town of Douala wearing t-shirts with the theme "Up Again After Stroke" . The march was supervised by the instructors of the Parcours vita, the police and the Emergency Asisitance Service. Media was also associated to spread this activities to a large number of people. At the end of the walk, participants received awareness raising flyers and were invited to attend other activities.
