Australia 2010

National Stroke Foundation

Australia (countrywide)

Over the month of October and into World Stroke Day on October 29 we have a number of activities to promote stroke and support the "1 in 6" message. These include:

  • Launch of a new DVD titled Tackling Depression After Stroke and aimed at healthcare professionals to increase their understanding of the issues experienced by many stroke survivors and carers.
  • Launch of a National Audit of Rehabilitation Services, which provides a scorecard on the implementation of evidenced-based care in Australian hospitals nationally.
  • Promotion of Know Your Numbers, our social marketing campaign aimed at encouraging people to have their blood pressure checked. Run across Queensland with the support of the Pharmacy Guild. This program supports the "1 in 6" message.
  • Supporting the "1 in 6" campaign through social media including Facebook and Twitter.
