Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital

As a count-down to celebrate World Stroke Day in October, we have lined-up activities related to post-stroke care and stroke survivorship.

On October 10, 2015, the Neurological Rehabilitation Team will organize a gathering and meeting of stroke survivors and their carers. Embracing the concept of ‘Patient As A Partner’, we aim to explore stroke survivors’ and carers’ point of view and acquire beneficial feedback and suggestions on how best to improve stroke awareness and the rehabilitation service rendered during the post-stroke period. This meeting will also act as a base for the initiation of a ‘Patient Action Group’.

Experiential Learning: Hemiplegic Care
A 2-day ‘Experiential-Learning: Hemiplegic Care’ course will take place on October 26-27, 2015. The course utilizes the use of role-play as part of experiential learning to improve health care providers' knowledge and understanding on the important aspects of hemiplegic care. Participants will be assigned alternating roles of hemiplegic individuals, caregivers and heath care providers. The experiential learning approach is useful to promote acquisition of basic but important knowledge and skills in hemiplegic care, particularly within an interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting.
