South Africa 2010

The Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa

A stroke specialist will be invited to present at the Mended Hearts Support Group meetings, providing the opportunity for stroke survivors to ask questions and share their stories of how they have overcome the effects of a stroke.

An email campaign promoting the "Tell Six Campaign" will be sent to our extensive database of people who have attended our health screenings.

Stroke Survivor Walk
Stroke survivor George Scola commenced his walk from Musina to Cape Town on the 16th August, setting off on a 2500 km journey that is expected to take six months to complete. The walk, dubbed the Bring it On Campaign, aims to increase stroke awareness and motivate survivors that there is life post-stroke

The walk is an initiative by the Stroke Survivors Foundation SA, and the HSFSA will be joining them to co-ordinate a 5 km Walk where members of the public, other stroke survivors, children and the media will be asked to join George and lend their support. Walkers will be asked to don red shoes or wear something red to show their support.
