( Bank of Ceylon, Central Bank, Peoples Bank, Lake House, Presidential Secretariat,Navy Head quarters,Teachers in Colombo education zone, Telecommunication. * Seminar on Post Stroke Care for doctors in Central Province (Prof Steve Davis was a speaker via Skype at this seminar) Activities around World Stroke Day * Stroke care givers training programme ACTIVITIES FOR WORLD STROKE DAY * CEREMONIAL LAUNCH OF THREE COMPREHENSIVE BOOKS ON STROKE COVERING SYMPTOMS AND DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT,PREVENTION AND REHABILITATION, WRITTEN IN ALL THREE MAIN LANGUAGES, ON WORLD STROKE DAY WITH PARTICIPATION OF HON. MINISTER OF HEALTH AS THE CHIEF GUEST. * PRESENTING STROKE SOLIDARITY STRING TO MINISTER OF HEALTH. * TV discussions with participation of a Neurologist (Swarnawahini, Rupavahinie and Derana TV channels)and numerous discussions with printed media and voice cuts to electronic media on stroke. * Stroke rehabilitation workshop to doctors of Western Province on 06/11/2012 Contact Details:

National Stroke Association of Sri Lanka is a scientific organization that consists of both medical professionals and reputed professionals from the co operate sector. We conducted following to celebrate the World Stroke Day 2012. 1. We celebrated World Stroke Day by launching the Stroke Solidarity String in Sri Lanka by presenting the String to His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksha at Temple Trees (President s office). He was well explained the theme and the incident and the theme was televised in News of all TV channels. 2. The president of the Association authored a book on stroke care with contributions of the Stroke Team of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and translated the book to Tamil and Sinhala which are the main two local languages. All three books were launched at the ceremony with the participation of Hon Maithipala Sirisena, Minister of Health, Sri Lanka. The ceremony was held at the Auditorium of the Sri Lanka Medical Association. The book was given a good publicity and there is a big demand for the book. The book is easy to read and carries chapters on stroke prevention and treatment and care in the question and answers format. 3. The National Stroke Association of Sri Lanka, together with the Director for Youth , Elderly, Disabled and Displaced of the Ministry of Health developed a project proposal with a ground plan for a comprehensive National Stroke Center handed it over to Minister of Health on the World Stroke Day for implementation. Ministry accepted the proposal and vouch to establish the 1st Stroke Center of Asia in Sri Lanka. 4. National Stroke Association along with the NCD sub committee of the Sri Lanka Medical Association conducted a workshop for doctors in the Western Province on stroke rehabilitation on 06.11.2012 to mark the WSD. The venue was the National Hospital of Sri Lanka. 5. Neurologist members of the National Stroke Association gave numerous media discussions via printed and electronic media to public on stroke facts. Facts on prevention and recognition of disease was included in these discussions.
