My son was 8 months old and had an acute right mca stroke. He had no health problems and no family history of stroke. The whole left side of his body was add affected and pretty much the whole right side of his brain was affected. We were told he would never walk or regain the use of his hand. He is now 17 months old and walking and playing like any other child his age. He has amazedevery doctor he has met with his recovery and his strength. He even walked into his first Neurology appointment 6 months after the stroke and the doctor couldn't believe it. It was so hard to see what happened and we took a day as a family to be upset at the idea of him missing out on so much at life but then we accepted it and took on the challenge head on. But he didn't even need us he was so determined to not take it lying down. I'm just glad he won't remember all of the bad stuff.
