Nigeria - STROKE AWARENESS CITY ENLIGHTENMENT
from 14.11.2017 to 29.10.2017 - PHYSIO-FIT PHYSIOTHERAPY HOSPITAL
The theme of this year world stroke day reads: “What is your reason for preventing stroke?”
We believe strongly that the saying “prevention is better than cure” is quite logical. Physiofit Physiotherapy Hospital was able to use live broadcast at a radio station (Faaji 106.5 FM) on Sunday, 29th of October 2017 in the early hours (8 am – 10 am) to inform the public in other to embrace measures that are globally recognised to preventing stroke and seek medical attention as soon as the “F.A.S.T” signs are obvious.
We were also able to use the street campaign to emphasize the necessary steps required to avoid stroke, coupled with the informative booklets that were printed in thousands and distributed to the member of the public through religious organizations, financial institutions, medical institutions such as Diagnostic centres, and one-on-one approach.

Members of the public that are partly or uninformed about the stroke condition were accessed through a live broadcast on radio by communication in one of Nigerian dialect. This concept proved so rewarding as calls and inquiries keep streaming-in until the time of the documentation of this information.
Also, those who went through our booklet on Stroke have been making some intelligent inquiries on some concepts they stumbled on.
Online feedbacks through (facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest et.c) the soft copies of the booklets seen, and other information that Physio-Fit Physiotherapy Hospital provided on stroke campaign have lent huge weight to positive responses from the public.

Local challenges such as communication barrier were tackled by switching from the English Language to the dialect of the people that dominate the areas where we did the campaign. Our team was also able to resist the temptation of being offended by the reaction of some of the people we approached during the distribution of booklets by wearing smiles and appearing friendly to as many as were contacted.
