WSD 2010 Pamphlet | Printable version
In this pamphlet, the World Stroke Organization (WSO) shares basic principles in three areas of the fight against stroke: prevention, treatment, and long-term rehabilitation and support. As it calls for immediate action to address the epidemic of stroke, WSO advocates for a comprehensive, continuum approach that includes and blends all three.
Here are the facts on the epidemic of stroke:
- Every 6 seconds, stroke kills one person.
- Every other second, stroke attacks one person, regardless of age or gender.
- 15 million people experience a stroke each year; 6 million of them do not survive.
- About 30 million people have had a stroke; most have residual disabilities.
Behind these numbers are real lives. Learn more, print out the World Stroke Day 2010 advocacy pamphlet, and share it with at least six people that you care about.
