Stroke respects no borders. It can attack anyone and at anytime regardless of age. The six faces on the poster represent people from the different geographical regions of the world and across the age spectrum.
The campaign posters below are communication vehicles to convey the message about the fight against stroke.
WSO members and partners from around the world are encouraged to adapt the posters in accordance to their local needs. Since the images for the campaign posters may not be suitable to some cultural settings, two concepts were developed. Explanations for the two concepts are presented below:
Concept One: “1 in 6” photo album
The photo tear represents the sixth person who has had stroke, i.e., “ 1 in 6” and hence is no longer in the picture. Family and friendships are torn apart because of stroke. Relationships are destroyed and shattered... only memories remain.
Concept Two: “1 in 6” faded image
The faded image of a face signifies the occurrence of stroke. An important objective of the campaign is to put a “face” to stroke. Behind the “1 in 6” public health statistic are people who at one time, were someone’s sister, brother, wife, husband, daughter, son, partner, mother, father… friend. They did exist and were loved.
Voice of Hope: Rani Mukerji
Indian film actress Rani Mukerji is the Bollywood celebrity who is championing the fight against stroke in India.
