"1 in 6" Campaign: World Stroke Day 2010
We are trying to convey the mission of the "One in Six" campaign by organizing meetings in five cities across Egypt. The cities are: Alexandria, Assiut, Cairo, Giza, Kafr Elshikh.

These meetings will be comprised of two inseparable parts:
I. Public awareness
II. Physician awareness

Public awareness.
a. Target audience: representatives of public, social organizations, journalists and other mass
media specialists
b. Methods:
c. Lectures about how to detect early signs of stroke, what are the risk factors, and how to
prevent stroke. (Primary and Secondary prevention).
d. Distribution of printed materials (include how to detect, risk factors and prevention, all in
Arabic language, local native)

II. Physician awareness:
a. Target audience: General practitioners, physicians, junior neurologists& psychiatrists, emergency department staff, intensive care physicians and family doctors.
b. Methods: It includes five lectures:
1. Risk factors and pathophysiology
2. Clinical manifestations, and Investigations
3. Management of acute stroke
4. Primary and secondary prevention
5. Microcirculation concepts and vascular dementia
